Clara Boj and Diego DÃez will join us at iFEST08 and there they are going to share with us their last project about urban virtual games trough a demonstration.
The project of Clara and Diego is based on the idea of hybrid city derived from the transformations of the actual models of perception and experience of the city through the effect of the integration of technological systems on the public space. From this idea, they propose to transform public adventure playgrounds into audiovisual interactive gamming spaces, provoking physical-digital game experiences and facilitating collaborative relations between users. Urban playground’s devices become tangible interfaces that allow computer games like experiences.
The work of Clara Boj and Diego Diaz is mainly centered in the observation of the public space and the diverse transformations resultants of the incorporation of the new technologies to the space of the routine character, from which they generate facilities that combine physical and virtual qualities to try to generate bows of continuity between the old ones and the new forms of social relation, between old and the new spaces of communication.
In year 2003 they were artists in residence in the Mixed Reality Lab of the National University of Singapore and began to introduce the Augmented Reality in its work, technology with which continues experimenting.
They have participated jointly in diverse collective exhibitions in which we can emphasize Interrupt (Singapore Art Museum, 2003), C.A.S.T. (Singapore Art Museum, 2003), etc. Their last project “Red Libre. Red Visible” has been awarded in the International Congress Ciber@rt Bilbao 2004 and they have been selected to exhibit its work in the Kiasma Museum of Helsinki within the festival ISEA2004.
